The Heart Knows Best …

Cardiac remodeling is a major driver of heart disease that steals millions of lives and billions of dollars every year. There is a pressing need for better control over tissue remodeling, which is regulated by a complex system of biochemical and biomechanical signals that can vary spatially, temporally, and from patient to patient.

Our expertise is systems mechanobiology focused on two primary questions:
       1. How do biochemical and biomechanical stimuli interact with each other during tissue remodeling?
       2. How can we predict and control this complex regulatory system?

To answer these questions, we are integrating computational systems biology models, data science approaches (AI/ML), and high-throughput in vitro tissue culture platforms in order to engineer personalized medicine tools for combatting heart disease.
